The incident took place on June 25, 2025 in the guard room of the college campus, where the victim was allegedly raped. The police have arrested four people, including the main accused Manojit Mishra, a former student and practicing lawyer. The other two accused, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, are senior students of the college, while the fourth accused is a security guard. The medical report of the victim found evidence of scratches and bite marks on her body.
Shocking statement of lawyer in Kolkata rape case
The lawyer claimed that the love bite marks make the case suspicious, but government lawyer Saurin Ghoshal rejected it, saying that according to the Supreme Court, all accomplices in gang rape are considered guilty, even if they have not directly committed the crime. Police said that the accused had threatened the victim to make the video viral. Their mobile phones have been seized and sent for forensic examination.

This case has also become the cause of political controversy in West Bengal. BJP alleged that Manojit is associated with TMC, while TMC denied it and demanded strict action. Police have intensified the investigation based on CCTV footage and other evidence. This incident raises questions about security in colleges and crimes against women.
