Brain Stroke Ki Pahchan: Stroke is a serious and life-threatening problem, the risk of which is being seen even in younger people. If we look at the data, it is known that in the year 2022, more than 12.2 million (1.22 crore) new cases of stroke were reported worldwide. Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide.
Globally, about 1 in 4 adults over the age of 25 is at risk of having a stroke in their lifetime. In a report in the year 2023, AIIMS neuro-specialists said that about 1.85 cases of stroke are reported in India every year. One person dies of a stroke every four minutes.
The risk of stroke is increasing rapidly due to lifestyle and dietary disturbances. People who often have high blood pressure are at higher risk of both stroke and heart attack.
Know the problem of stroke.
A stroke occurs when there is a blockage in a vein of the brain or the flow of blood stops due to a vein bursting, which damages the brain cells. When the brain does not get enough oxygen and blood, its cells start dying within a few minutes, this condition is called stroke.
This is a medical emergency, which if not recognized in time, can also kill the person. In many cases, there is also a risk of disability due to stroke. According to medical reports, the symptoms of stroke are sudden and intense, but if attention is paid to some early signs, then you can avoid a life-threatening situation.
Pay serious attention to these symptoms.
To identify stroke in time, first of all, some symptoms should be paid attention to. In the case of a stroke, there can be a problem of very unbearable pain in the head, this is its most common symptom. Apart from this, the affected person may be confused, and there may be difficulty in speaking or understanding someone's words.
In case of a stroke, the face, hands or feet may become numb, and there may be problems like weakness or paralysis in them. If a person tries to raise both his hands above the head, then often one hand becomes weak and starts falling. In this, the physical balance also gets disturbed, which makes walking difficult.
Formula to identify stroke
Health experts say, there is a formula to identify the symptoms of brain stroke - FAST, through which it can be easily known whether someone has had a stroke or not. Check these four things immediately.
F (Face Drooping): Is the face drooping on one side?
A (Arm Weakness): Is one arm weak or falling?
S (Speech Difficulty): Is there a problem in speaking?
T (Time to Call Emergency): If yes, then call emergency services immediately.
Who is at risk of stroke?
According to organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Heart Association, stroke can happen to anyone from young to old. However, some conditions can significantly increase your risk.
Studies show that people with high blood pressure and high cholesterol are at the highest risk. Apart from this, uncontrolled diabetes, smoking and alcohol habits, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle can also increase your risk.
