'Masterpiece' film based on devastating true story 'left me unable to sleep'

Released in 2023, The Iron Claw follows the Von Erich, a family of professional wrestlers who are said to be "cursed".

The film, which is available to stream on Netflix is just one many emotional movies that have been added to the streamer.

Based on the real-life Von Erich family, it shows father Fritz's determination to see one of his four sons be crowned NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

However, his determination for his family to become the most successful puts strain on his four sons and leads to a series of tragic events.

The biographical sports film has earned 80% on Rotten Tomatoes with Rolling Stone magazine heaping praise on lead actor Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich. They said of the star: "Efron gets at what drove Kevin: discipline, love, and fear. He anchors the movie."

The film also featured Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, Lily James as Pam, Kevin's wife, and Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich - mother to the four boys.

Those who have seen The Iron Claw were impacted by its tragic storyline and many shared they'd been unable to sleep and sobbed uncontrollably after watching it.

One viewer penned: "The Iron Claw is an Absolute Masterpiece, nothing short of a cinematic triumph. A film that transcends the sports drama genre to deliver something truly extraordinary.

"I watched it last night, and it left such a profound impact it took me on an emotional rollercoaster, so much so that that I couldn't sleep afterwards as it was so thought-provoking and i had so much empathy for the family."

A third shared: "I had already known about the Von Eric family going into this film & I still wasn't prepared for how devastating it was. I was sobbing uncontrollably at the end. I think the movie did a great job depicting the dynamic of the whole family... the unbreakable bond among the brothers, the dad living vicariously through his sons & literally only caring about having a title in the family, the pressure & generational trauma the sons felt.
