'Lovely' dog so traumatised from his past nobody wants to rehome him

He's so traumatised by his past, nobody wants to rehome him - but this poor pooch is in desperate need of a second chance so he can learn what it means to be loved. Jax was taken in by Baltos Dog Rescue last year after being rescued from a pound, where hespent his days cowering in a corner overcome with fear.

Since then, he has been matched with foster carers but they were unable to keep him as they were "unable to meet his needs". Now, Jax is again seeking a home where he can learn to trust humans and return to his former happy self. A statement from Baltos Dogs Rescue reads: "The reason being that Jax is a complex wee fella, he came to us from the pound about a year ago.

"He came as an emergency intake because he was completely terrified in the pound, the videos of him cowering in the corner of his kennel were heartbreaking. His new fosters feel unable to meet his needs.

"Jax actually stayed with me initially, he is an incredibly sweet boy, his favourite things are playing fetch and cuddles with his person.

"But someone has done a number on him as he is very fearful outside, this results in him - at times - being very reactive.

"He didn’t do this much with me, on the occasions he did it was usually pretty short lived and I actually had him playing with a couple of strange dogs in the park and out walking with my big malamute.

"However he went to a new home and was incredibly reactive meaning that his walks were done at quiet times in quiet areas. Sadly due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control he had to leave that home."

Due to being moved from home to home, poor Jax, who is thought to be a Dalmatian cross with his age unknown, has developed separation anxiety and likes to sleep where he can see his owner.

The statement adds: "In his last home his foster worked really hard on this and had got to a point where he could be left for around 4 hours with no problems.

"We are looking for a home that ideally has two adults, he seems to be more confident around men but could well respond similarly to a confident female.

"He does need a garden, he absolutely should not be walked for a few weeks. This is not negotiable, it is traumatic for him and he becomes easily overwhelmed.

"We can’t place him around children, he’s too vulnerable and easily overwhelmed. We won’t risk your children so please don’t ask us to!"

He's been working with a behaviourist who is willing to support his new owner through his transition and training.

The statement ends: "I know Jax, I have no doubts that all of his fears can be overcome, he doesn’t need to be kept hidden from the world but he does need time and a clear training plan. If you can give him the time, we will give you the training plan.

"Jax really is a lovely boy, the day he left mine to go to what I had hoped was his forever, I cried in the street as he was driven away.

"If my life was different I’d have him with me without hesitation. He will be the best friend you could ever wish for, he will give you his whole heart and ask for very little in return.

"If we can’t find a home for Jax he will go to kennels, this will be devastating for him, potentially it could break him beyond repair."

Commenting on his rehoming application, one Facebook user said: "Hope he finds a loving new home, he's beautiful. I will keep my fingers crossed and prayers too."

Another user added: "Poor boy. Heartbreaking to know someone has caused him to be this way."

A third user said: "My boy would just be too bouncy for him, otherwise I'd have him in a heartbeat."
