Eggs are a kitchen essential to keep stocked in your fridge as they guarantee a satisfying and nutritious meal is just moments away.
Whether it's poached, scrambled, boiled, or the classic fried egg that takes your fancy, none of them require much time to whip up. Now, whilst fried eggs frequently top our breakfast plates, many encounter the age-old struggle of crisping the whites without transforming the yolk into a rubbery disaster, particularly when avoiding conventional methods like the frying pan in favour of an air fryer.
A brilliant solution emerges from the clever @clairenlson74 on TikTok, renowned for her handy recipes and cooking shortcuts. She reveals how to perfect a fried egg in 40 seconds using a microwave.

Trading pans for paper plates, Claire employs just a teaspoon of vegetable oil before cracking the egg onto it and covering with another plate, reports the Express.
With a touch of enthusiasm, she declared: "We're going to microwave it for 40 seconds."
The result? A reveal displaying a beautifully cooked egg. Adding seasoning with a dash of salt and pepper, Claire tucks in, declaring: "That's good. That's really good. So easy and no clean-up. Absolutely delicious."
Amazed TikTokers have been swift to commend Claire's trick in the comments and were keen to test it themselves. Stunned by the ease, one user declared: "Wow that's incredible. It's taken me years to realise you can do this."
Others experimented themselves, with one verifying: "It worked. It was so good." One thankful viewer expressed their gratitude for Claire's quick tip, saying: "Didn't know this. Thank you."
In her video, Claire utilised paper plates, although one viewer countered: "You don't need to use paper plates, you can use regular plates."
For the best results with this kitchen trick, it's recommended to leave eggs out of the fridge for at least an hour beforehand as they cook more evenly when at room temperature. This is due to the fact that starting with a cold egg can lead to the yolk overcooking while waiting for the white to set.
