The England squad are in line for a bumper £15million payday after winning retaining their Euros crown courtesy of a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain.

The Lionesses triumped 3-1 on penalties after finding themselves deadlocked at 1-1 with the world champions after 120 minutes in Basel. Alessia Russo's second half header wiped out Mariona Caldentey's opener to take the game to extra-time and then penalties.

And after Hannah Hampton saved two spot-kicks in a row, a third missed penalty from Spain set the stage for Chloe Kelly to plunder the winning penalty.

Sarina Wiegman's side have made history by going back-to-back at the Euros - and they will be rewarded handsomely for their heroics in Switzerland.

Mirror Football outlined on the eve of Sunday's big final that the England squadwould bank around £15m collectively thanks to FA bonus payments, sponsorship bonuses, endorsement deals and social media pay.

That includes a £1.7m bonus from the FA, with each player set to receive £73,000: an £18,000 increase on the prize they landed for winning the Euros in 2022.

England's superstars could also land fresh endorsement deals worth £10m, which would double their earnings to more than £1m a year each.

As well as a place in history and a financial windfall, England's achievements will be recognised with a victory parade in London on Tuesday.

Mark Bullingham, the FA's chief executive, confirmed the news in a statement, saying: "Our history-making Lionesses are Champions of Europe for the second successive time, and have become the first England Senior team in history to win a tournament overseas.

"We are so proud of all of the players, Sarina and the support team who have all been part of this incredible achievement. They have all worked unbelievably hard and we know the nation shares our pride. The victory celebration in London on Tuesday will give England fans an opportunity to celebrate with the players, and be part of history.

"We’ve had amazing support from our fans both in Switzerland and at home throughout the tournament, and we look forward to celebrating together and creating some lifelong memories."
