Today i.e. on 16 October 2024, the festival of Sharad Purnima is being celebrated. On Purnima, the full moon appears in the sky, while there is a belief about Sharad Purnima that on this night Amrit falls from the sky in the form of dew drops. In such a situation, according to religious traditions, kheer is made on the night of Sharad Purnima. Kheer prepared from new rice is kept under the open sky. Amrit Varsha falls on the kheer in the form of dew drops throughout the night. At the same time, kheer is consumed with the family the next day.

Some people fast on the occasion of Sharad Purnima. At the same time, 17 October is Thursday, people fast on this day too. In such a situation, rice kheer prepared on the occasion of Sharad Purnima cannot be eaten during fasting. Here, an easy method of making makhana kheer in Falhari Kheer is being told, by adopting which kheer can be prepared in a few minutes.

Ingredients for making makhana kheer

Makhana - 1 cup

Milk - 1 liter

Sugar - 1/2 cup

Ghee - 1 tablespoon

Cashews

Raisins

Almonds

Pistachios

Cardamom powder

Saffron

Method of making makhana kheer

Step 1- To make makhana kheer, first roast the makhana. For this, first heat some ghee in a pan. Keep in mind that the ghee should not be too much, you have to roast the makhana in it.

Step 2- Put makhana in hot ghee and roast it on low flame till it turns golden. After roasting makhana, turn off the gas and keep it on one side. Now take a heavy pan or a heavy bottomed kadhai and boil the milk in it.
Step 3- When the milk starts boiling, add roasted makhana to it. Now keep stirring it continuously. When the milk thickens and makhana becomes soft, then add sugar to it and mix well. Now add chopped cashews, almonds, pistachios, and raisins to this kheer.

Step 4- Lastly, add cardamom powder and saffron to it and mix well. Your kheer is ready. Cool it for some time and then offer kheer to Mahadev. You can also consume this kheer during fasting.
