Union Minister Shivraj Pulls Up Officials At DISHA Samiti Meeting In Vidisha

Send Push

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): At the DISHA committee meeting in Vidisha, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan got angry about the seed distribution system.

Chouhan sought information about the distribution of seeds. When the officer concerned failed to provide information about soybean seeds, Chouhan was annoyed.

The officers keep away from doing any work and simply idle away their time, Chouhan said. If an officer cannot say the quantity of seeds the farmers had required, how will they benefit the farmers? he said.

He also expressed anger over the poor quality of soybean seeds. Chouhan sought a report on the storage system and details about the seed procurement process by the farmers.

The officers did not have any figures of seed procurement of the current season.

Chouhan wanted to know the number of farmers and the area where soybean seeds would be sown. Chouhan said the companies selling artificial fertiliser should not be set free after imposing a fine on them, but the officials should act strongly against them, Chouhan said.

Apart from shopkeepers, there should be an inquiry into the complete source and the network, he said. In the next Lok Sabha session, a strict act will be brought against the sale of artificial fertiliser, seeds, and pesticide, he said.

The farmers should not be forced to purchase produce along with DAP, the Union Agriculture Minister said. Chouhan directed the public representatives to monitor the houses being allotted under the PM Awas Yojna and monitor the rural roads. The public representatives should monitor all the works that are underway in their areas, he said.
