Recently, actor Ram Kapoor shocked everyone with his drastic weight loss, (around 55 kgs) through intense exercise, and diet. His wife Gautami Kapoor, who is a fitness freak herself, could not be more ecstatic, and recently spoke about what all he went through to achieve this incredible transformation.
A long journey
In a chat with indianexpress.com, Gautami said that people don’t see the tough side of it; they only see the end result. She added that she is proud of her husband for doing it, and that he’s gone through a lot mentally, emotionally, and physically. She also added that their daughter Sia also lost a lot of weight, incidentally before Ram, and that inspired him to kickstart his fitness journey.
Gautami's workout
Talking about her own workout regime, Gautami said that she mixes up her workout with strength training, Pilates, and some cardio like Zumba or treadmill walking. She revealed that she started exercising at 15, at a time when gyms were not common. However, she admits to making some mistakes on the way, and said that she did excessive cardio, and "followed extreme diets without proper guidance," leading to injuries later on. She revealed that she later got a meniscus tear in 2010, and needed surgery, that prompted her to rethink her workout regime.
Listening to her body
Gautami says she now listens to her body, and does not push herself unnecessarily. "With age and perimenopause, workouts are adjusted based on what my body needs. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone, " she adds. She also adds that even though High Intensity Interval Terminal (HIIT) is her favorite, she does it only once a week, since she is naturally lean, and loses more weight with it. She also added that going to the gym and working out is a stress buster for her.
Diet
Gautami's diet is nothing out-of-the box and includes simple homemade meals. She said that she eats everything, including fried food, ghee, or butter. However, her meal timings are fixed, and she finishes off her dinner by 6.30 pm. She does not have a sweet tooth, thankfully.
Skin secrets
Gautami said that since her dad is a dermatologist, she knows that "less than more." Her tips are to stay hydrated, remove makeup after shoots, and avoid heavy products. She further adds that she keeps her skin clean, and will never do makeup when she is not shooting, restricting herself to some eye makeup and lips when going for an event. She thanked her parents for 'good genes' that allows her to maintain her looks, and frame.
