Rashmika Mandanna had quite a busy year. From juggling promotions, film shoots and back-to-back releases, but always seems to be radiating effortless energy. So, when a fan recently asked her on social media what she prefers the most- coffee or naps, what keeps her going during the long shooting days, she had the cutest response.
The Thamma actress answered that it was both. She said, "Can't pick one cause in my free time, I'm doing either of both on set for the energy I need to get myself through. Also, see, I've got the sweetest team that makes sure I get my due naps.” It’s easy to believe her, considering how unstoppable she has been lately, from belting out horror-comedy to romance, Rashmika’s picking roles that constantly push her boundaries as an actor.
Rashmika Mandanna about her role in Thamma
In her latest release, Thamma, Rashmika can be seen taking on one of her most unusual roles yet — Tadaka, a vampire-like woman with supernatural powers. Starring alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, the film is part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and has already minted above Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office since its Diwali release. In an interview with PTI, she opened up about her role in the movie and what it felt like to prepare for it.
The Animal actress said that she was instantly drawn to the part because it felt unlike anything she had done before. To her, it was not just a "new emotion" but a completely "new being". Since she had no reference point, she relied completely on the director, Aditya Sarpotdar, to shape her character.
About Thamma
The movie follows Ayushmann’s character, Alok Goyal, a journalist whose life takes a dark twist after a strange encounter with Tadaka during a mountain trek. What begins as a rescue soon unravels into a supernatural tale, as Alok finds himself turning into a Betaal — a vampire-like being — and facing off against an ancient power played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
After the success of Thamma, Rashmika is already gearing up for her next big release — The Girlfriend, a Telugu romantic drama directed by Rahul Ravindran and co-starring Dheekshith Shetty. The film is slated to hit theatres on November 7, 2025, in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. She also has Cocktail 2 and Mysaa in the pipeline, proving that her “coffee and naps” formula is clearly working.
