Spending crores on IPL cricketers or marriages? Both can break your heart, warns Thyrocare founder

In the recent IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI), LSG secured a 12-run victory. Mitchell Marsh's explosive 60 off 31 balls and Aiden Markram's 53 runs set a formidable target of 203/8 for MI. Despite Suryakumar Yadav's valiant 67 off 43 balls, Hardik Pandya’s MI fell short, finishing at 191/5.

Dr. A. Velumani's tweet draws a parallel between the high costs and uncertain outcomes of marriages and the substantial investments in IPL players, suggesting that both can lead to disappointing results. This analogy reflects on the unpredictability of cricket, where even highly paid players may not always deliver expected performances.

A user wrote, “IPL is a money pit!” Another said, “Indian Pathi League: The more salary you earn, the higher your chances of being picked in the auction.” One said, “Cost not equal to quality in any product or service or life.”

IPL 2025's expensive player
Rishabh Pant was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025, making him the most expensive buy in the history of the tournament. However, his poor run in the tournament has become a cause of concern as he has scored only 19 runs in four matches. But, he earned praises for his “superb” field placement from Sunil Gavaskar.

Meanwhile, the retained player of the IPL 2025 of the MI team- Jasprit Bumrah was bought for Rs 18 cr, Suryakumar Yadav for Rs 16.35 cr, skipper Hardik Pandya for Rs 16.35 cr, Rohit Sharma for Rs 16.3 cr and Tilak Varma 8 cr.
