Setting the tone for BJP's campaign for the Bihar assembly polls, union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his allies like RJD president Lalu Prasad of trying to "secure voting rights for infiltrators."
"Rahul baba took out a Yatra here recently," Shah said, addressing a BJP workers' conclave in Araria district of Bihar. "The purpose was to oppose special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission, which wants to remove infiltrators' names from voters' list."
The minister vowed to drive out each and every infiltrator if the NDA retained power in the state "with a two-thirds majority, with a tally of 160 plus seats" in the upcoming assembly polls. Shah also said this year the people of Bihar will celebrate "four Diwalis," each representing a different achievement or promise.
The first reason is the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya, the second is because Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana to pay Rs 10,000 each to 7.5 million women on Saturday, and the third is because of the next-gen GST reforms, he said.
Shah said the fourth Diwali will be celebrated if the BJP-NDA wins in the Bihar elections and forms its government.
