New Delhi: The Prime Minsiter's Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement ( PM E-DRIVE) Scheme will aid development of crucial charging infrastructure, union heavy industries minister HD Kumaraswamy said Wednesday.
Speaking at an event to highlight the success of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme, he said the newly approved PM E-DRIVE is set to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. This will be through substantial upfront incentives and the development of crucial charging infrastructure.
"Our goal is to reduce the environmental footprint, improve air quality, and build a competitive and resilient EV manufacturing industry," Kumaraswamy said.
The FAME II scheme was operational from April 1, 2019, to August 31, 2024.
