Bengaluru 'college dropout' who went from 'zero to Rs 7 crore+' quits Rs 1.2 crore job to support pregnant wife; Internet can't stop talking

A heartfelt post on Reddit has been winning hearts after a man revealed he walked away from his high-paying job to be by his wife’s side during her pregnancy.

The man shared that he was earning Rs 1.2 crore a year while working from home and living comfortably in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. However, when his wife became pregnant, he initially suggested she take a break from work. She, however, wanted to continue, so he decided to make the change himself.

“Today I’m feeling really blessed that I can actually afford to leave a Rs 1 crore+ job and know I can get back into the market anytime with my connections and experience,” he wrote.

He described himself as a college dropout who went from “zero to Rs 7 crore+” in just seven years, mostly by building and leading go-to-market teams in startups.

Social Media Reactions

The post quickly went viral, sparking a mix of admiration and reflection.

One user wrote: “Not everyone has the same story... many people can’t afford to lose their jobs. You were lucky, your wife was lucky, happy for you though.” Another called him “Husband goals!!!”

Responding to the praise, the man said: “Tbh, my wife’s pretty amazing. I’m the one who hit the jackpot in this marriage. She’s super hardworking and incredibly understanding, and we’ve known each other since school for over 15 years.”

Others applauded his decision, calling it “the best choice to truly prioritise life’s experiences.”

What’s Next for Him?

Far from being worried about leaving a corporate role, he shared that he plans to take on low-stress advisory positions for startups. In exchange for a few hours a week of guidance, he’s negotiating 1% equity stakes along with an hourly fee.

It’s a decision that shows sometimes the most valuable investment is not in a career, but in the people we love.
