Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 28 (ANI): People's Democratic Party MLA Waheed Para on Monday emphasised the need for justice rather than holding talks with Pakistan in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
Ahead of the special session in the J&K legislative assembly to address the attack, Para stated, "More importantly, justice should be done," when asked if talks with Pakistan on the matter should take place.
Para condemned the attack as a communal act aimed at dividing the people of Kashmir.
He further noted that this kind of resentment over the attack was seen in Kashmir after 30 years.
"I think there's a strong dissent in Kashmir against this act of violence, and it's a communal act. They (terrorists) are trying to break us. People of Kashmir stand with the nation. They feel and understand the pain of the country, and those who died in this attack are our martyrs, and we are with the nation in this situation," the PDP leader said.
"I think the Government of India will respond. But from Kashmir, I will say that there is a strong resentment against violence for the first time in the last 30 years," he added.
In a separate statement, BJP leader Shagun Parihar stated that Pakistan's entire politics has been reduced to targeting one particular community in India and that Prime Minister Modi has enough capability to give a befitting reply.

"Pakistan's entire politics has been reduced to how much they can target a particular community in India. Our Prime Minister is capable enough to give them a befitting reply," Parihar said.
Meanwhile, J&K Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary moved a resolution to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack and endorsed the diplomatic measures announced by the Union Government after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
The attack in Pahalgam is one of the deadliest attacks in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike, in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India has taken strong measures against Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism. (ANI)
