Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 9 (ANI): Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that in the last 2-3 years, the BJP has only cheated the people of Maharashtra.
"They (BJP) do not have anything to say, so they are putting allegations on others. For the last 2-3 years, BJP has cheated the people of Maharashtra. From the Prime Minister to the Home Minister, everyone has started speaking against Telangana. What does Telangana have to do with Maharashtra? It means that after seeing our guarantees, they got scared and started speaking against us...I will take BJP leaders to the villages of Telangana to show if the guarantees have been fulfilled or not. I will take you there on an aeroplane if necessary...PM Modi had promised to double the income of farmers but 20,000 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra in the last 11 years," said CM Revanth Reddy.
"It is BJP's habit to form government by making false promises, Congress is not like this, if Congress has given any guarantee, then that will be fulfilled. Telangana was formed on the guarantee of Sonia Gandhi..." he said hailing the Congress party.
The Chief Minister further said that all the people in power in Maharashtra will receive a befitting reply from the people in the upcoming elections.
"Guarantee means Congress, Congress means a guarantee. We do not give false promises. Earlier Maharashtra meant Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jyotirao Phule, Balasaheb Thackeray...Now, the situation of Marathis has become such that we have to see Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis...They are not going to form a govt in Maharashtra, the people are going to give them a befitting reply..." he added.
The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies to be counted on November 23.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42. (ANI)
