Delhi Old Vehicles Banned: You often see many years old vehicles on the road, but now you will not be able to see even a 10 year old vehicle on the road. Because when the old vehicle will not get petrol, diesel, then how will it be seen on the road.

From today, 10 year old vehicles in Delhi will not get diesel and 15 year old vehicles will not get petrol, fuel at petrol pumps. This rule has come into effect from today, July 1, 2025.

AI based ANPR cameras

The government has made hi-tech arrangements to implement this rule. AI based ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras have been installed at about 500 petrol pumps in Delhi, which scan the number plate of the vehicle and identify its age. If the vehicle is older than the prescribed limit, it will be refused fuel.

To follow this rule, officers will be present at every petrol pump who will ensure compliance with the rules. Along with this, all the pumps have been instructed to refuse to give fuel to such vehicles and keep a record of it.

Penalty for not following the rules

If any vehicle is seen breaking the rules, then it is at risk of a fine of up to Rs 10,000 and the vehicle being confiscated. Apart from this, two-wheeler owners may have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. If such vehicles are found parked at any public place, they can also be confiscated.

Why was this decision taken

The air of Delhi was becoming poisonous day by day, in view of which the government has taken such a decision. At present there are about 62 lakh such vehicles in Delhi. The government wants people to move towards electric vehicles and public transport. Let us tell you that this step is in line with the 2018 order of the Supreme Court and the 2014 NGT instructions, which said that vehicles older than 15 years cannot be parked at public places.
