UPI Payment: India is making a splash in the digital world. A report from the IMF has come, according to which India has broken many records in online payment and has secured the first position in the secure digital payment sector.

UPI Payment: India has left every country behind and has secured the first position in the fast and secure digital payment sector. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India has achieved this position in digital transactions thanks to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

UPI, launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in the year 2016, has today become the easiest and most popular way of money transactions in the country.

More than 1,800 crore transactions every month

According to NPCI, more than 1,800 crore transactions take place every month through UPI. In June 2025, UPI had a turnover of Rs 24.03 lakh crore with 1,839 crore transactions, which shows a growth of 32% compared to 1,388 crore transactions in June 2024 last year.

PIB said, "UPI has taken India away from cash and card-based payments and moved towards a digital-dominated economy." It has become a strong means of financial inclusion not only for big businesses but also for small shopkeepers and common people.

UPI is now at a global level

Outside the borders of India, UPI is now handling about 50% of real-time digital payments globally. Through this, 85% of digital payments are being made in India today, with 49.1 crore users, 6.5 crore businessmen, and 675 banks connected on the same platform. On this, PIB said, 'This is not just a matter of figures, but it reflects the growing trust in India's digital framework and the rapid steps towards a cashless economy.
