A 107-year-old woman who growing out of her forehead has stunned people on social media, who say her longevity is all thanks to the bizarre growth.
The centenarian, named only as Chen, comes from Puning in the Chinese Province of Guangdong. She has become a local celebrity among residents ever since the strange growth first appeared a few years ago.
Local’s have affectionately dubbed the 10-centimetre growth Chen’s “longevity horn,” attributing her old age and good health to the strange feature.
The 10-centimetre growth has developed over several years, yet Chen remains in good health, with a hearty appetite and positive outlook.
Medics have diagnosed the growth as a cutaneous horn, a kind of swelling often associated with prolonged sun exposure. While generally benign, experts advise monitoring such growths due to a slight risk they could become cancerous.
Chen’s unusual condition has not had much of an impact on her daily life, however. Recently her fame has spread beyond her local community after a video of her as posted on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
Commenters were taken aback with one warning not to get the growth removed. One user titled 'Mantou Little Smart' commented: "She can apply for Guinness World Records."
Then user 'Food Healer' commented: "I wish everyone would live this long." And user 'Have a good mood every day' added: "My grandma had a growth on her head. She went to the hospital to have it removed, but died two days after she came back."
