Tom Brady gets last laugh after X-rated welcome from Wrexham fans at Birmingham City

Tom Brady left Wrexham fans silent after their expletive-ridden reception for the NFL icon.

The American was in attendance in Birmingham on Monday evening for the Blues’ much-anticipated League One showdown with Wrexham. Brady is a minority owner at the Midlands side.

And while his role is restricted to the boardroom, he appears to be getting fully involved with the fan culture. Ahead of kick-off, Brady walked a lap of the St Andrews pitch, including the section of the ground where the travelling Wrexham fans were housed.

They did not pass up the opportunity to fire some grief Brady’s way. As he walked by, the Wrexham fans chanted: "Who the f***ing hell are you?"

And Brady had the perfect response. The 47-year-old gave an enthusiastic thumbs up, with a cheeky grin on his face. He then pointed at one particular Wrexham fan in an attempt to wind them up even further.

In the end, Brady was the one left celebrating as his Birmingham side secured a 3-1 success. Jack Marriott had given Wrexham the lead, only for £15m man Jay Stansfield to turn the game on its head with strikes either side of half-time.

Tomoki Iwata secured victory for the Blues on the hour mark. The clash had an unsavoury end after a brawl between the two sides, which saw Brady enthusiastically applaud before Krystian Bielik was sent off.

Taking to Instagram after Birmingham’s victory, Brady said: “What a night in BIRMINGHAM. Thanks for teaching me how to sing at a football match @davidbeckham. Can’t repeat most of what was said.”

Brady was not the only star name in attendance at St Andrews. He was also joined by ex- Manchester United duo David Beckham and Gary Neville, while Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney also took in the game.

But Birmingham boss Chris Davies suggested that there was no added pressure as far as his players were concerned. Speaking after his side’s success, he said: “It was something I did address with the players that this was something going on but that’s not our domain, our domain is the pitch and what we do. It’s about focusing on the performance and the external stuff is irrelevant to us.

“It’s true, they’ll follow the social media and they’ll know the attention and hype around the game, but I didn’t see any change at all from a concentration point of view or any pressure. As I say, if anything it made us better because it was all-round our best performance of the season.”
