Former Strictly Come Dancing couple Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova reportedly had to be kept apart to avoid any awkward encounter at this year's National Television Awards.
The professional dancers on the hit BBC contest had been in a relationship for two years before separating in July. And it appears the former couple aren't quite ready to put an a happy show just yet - a week before they are back on our screens.
The ballroom stars were seen walking the red carpet separately at the glitzy annual bash on Wednesday. Nadiya, 35, looked stunning as she donned a beautiful pink ruffled dress which featured a very long train. Kai, 29, meanwhile looked handsome in his dapper black tux.
But it was apparently clear the pair being separate had been carefully planned. One onlooker told Daily Mail: "When the pair got inside the O2 they gave each other a very wide berth. Organisers had ensured there would be no awkward camera shots by keeping the frosty pair apart from each other."
Their blanking of each other went one further when the hit dance show won an award. When it came to collecting their gong, Kai was seen standing behind presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, but Nadiya was "nowhere to be seen".
"If this is what they are like at an awards bash, imagine what things are like in the rehearsal room," the source added.
This year, Kai won't have as big of a role on the dance show as he will only be involved in group dances and won't be paired with a celebrity. Speaking of his disappointment, he told the publication: "It is one of those things where some people don't get partners and that is the way it is. I'm going to be there supporting my colleagues."
He added he will be able to take part in guest acts and appearances, insisting he is "not really out of it", despite not getting a celebrity pairing.
Kai and Nadiya announced they were calling a day on their relationship in July. Friends told The Sun at the time that the pair simply "grew apart" after two 'blissful' years and were keen to stress there was no third party involved in the break-up.
