Strictly Come Dancing viewers were split on Tess Daly's fashion statement in an ensemble some likened to a bin liner on Sunday night.

The presenter strutted onto the stage in an elegant off-the-shoulder black gown that left fans at odds, sparking debate on social media over her style choice

As she graced the dance floor, some watchers didn't hold back their bin bag comparisons: "What is Tess wearing? Bin liner? Sorry. #strictly."

Echoes of similar sentiments were seen on social media as one person tweeted: "Assuming it's bin day round Tess' tomorrow morning as she's come dressed in the bin-bag."

Another cheekily added: "Just remembered it's bin day tomorrow. Thanks Tess. #strictly."

Nevertheless, there was an outpouring of love from other corners of the Strictly fan base. Enthusiastic admirers supported Tess, with one fan gushing: "#Strictly Tess looks amazing!!""

Another joined in, adding flair: "#Strictly Blimey Tess! That's quite a dress!"

Some fans appreciated the risque vibe: "Tess turning up the sexiness by wearing a bin bag for the tonight's show #Strictly #SCD #StrictlyComeDancing."

In the midst of the attire controversy, pro dancer Amy Dowden faced her own drama when medical professionals attended to her post-performance on Saturday night as a "precaution".

Despite the scare that led to an ambulance call and missing the results show, Amy offered reassurance later, sharing that she's on the mend: "much better", reports .

JB Gill, after securing a spot in Icons week, said to Claudia Winkleman: "Honestly, I'm beside myself and Amy of course is gonna be so happy that we're through to icons week. It's an amazing feeling."

It was later unveiled that Punam and Gorka were the most recent pair to be shown the exit. The telly doctor went head-to-head with Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in the dance off, with all of the judges unanimously choosing to save the ex-Coronation Street star.

Following Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke's unanimous decision to favour Shayne and Nancy's Paso Doble over Punam and Gorka's Tango, chief judge concurred she would have made the same choice.

However, despite her exit, Punam maintained she was "really proud" of herself.

She expressed: "I am really proud of myself. You know I've taken on something that's so out of my comfort zone. The one thing that I've very much learnt is to say yes more, and that there is no point in your life when you can stop learning new skills."

continues Saturday 2nd November at 6:30pm on One with the results show on Sunday 3rd November at 7:20pm on One and iPlayer.
