Phillip Schofield has honoured a heartfelt family ritual as he returned to social media after announcing the loss of his cherished mother.
The former presenter, 62, revealed earlier this week that his 'magnificent mum' Pat had sadly died, and he's been processing his grief since. On Wednesday, 16 October, Phillip took to for the first time since sharing the news of his mum's passing, posting a snapshot of a classic fish and chips meal inside his car.
The image captured a rainy seaside scene with ocean and cliff views, suggesting Phillip was finding solace in the familiar comfort food amidst the gloomy . His caption read: "Keeping up the family tradition. Flounders fish on the headland."
It's believed that the TV star is in Cornwall, where his mother resided, and which also served as a retreat for Phillip last year during the media storm surrounding his controversial but lawful relationship with a younger male colleague.

In a poignant tribute on Monday, 1 October, Phillip expressed his gratitude to the Treliske A&E department in Truro, Cornwall for their care of his mother. In an emotional post on Instagram, he wrote: "Today, at 3pm and after a heartbreaking weekend, my magnificent mum decided it was time to go to her beloved Brian."
"Over three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said. She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum."
He went on to say: "Our eternal thanks to the paramedics, Treliske A&E and Critical Care team who have been, in the past and this weekend, my mum's and our angels. Your love and care has been our saviour." Phillip added another heartfelt message: "I love you mum, forever."
Although he didn't disclose the cause of her death, Phillip had previously discussed his mother's health battles during his appearance on Channel 5's Cast Away last month.
The ex-This Morning presenter was shocked when both his mum and brother were diagnosed with the same severe health condition. Despite severing ties with his brother Timothy, 54, following his conviction and subsequent 12-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a teenager, Phillip remembered how the family united when Timothy and their mother, Pat, were both diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes within six months of each other.
Opening up in a heartfelt chat with Health Awareness, Phillip shared: "My brother and mother are both Type 1 diabetics and have been for the last 25 years, so it is something that as a family we are very used to."
He elaborated further by saying: "My brother was first to be diagnosed and he had an unquenchable thirst for fizzy drink, which was very unlike him. That continued for a few days, he was acting completely out of character. So we took him to the doctors and he was very quickly diagnosed. Then six months later my mum was diagnosed in the same way."
