Paddy McGuinness says Road Tripping show led to 'soul searching' after Christine split

Send Push

Paddy McGuinness is set to grace our screens once again with his latest series 'Road Tripping', where he admits the show has prompted some 'soul-searching' following his split from wife Christine two years ago.

In this new adventure, Paddy will be hitting the roads of Europe in a campervan alongside Top Gear mate Chris Harris, as they explore novel ways to fend off the ageing process, all in the quest to unlock the secret of ageing with elegance. Speaking about the three-part series, Paddy shared: "There are some moments where we both really do some soul searching and think about how we can make the most of the years ahead of us."

The news comes after Paddy and Christine called time on their marriage in 2022, after a union of 11 years - and it appears Christine has turned a new leaf. In June this year, the mum-of-three gushed that she had begun seeing someone new and was the "happiest she'd ever been".

Christine spilled the beans: "I met them on my birthday through mutual friends and we've been dating since June. It's someone I know. I wasn't thinking anything at the time but we kept in touch and it's so nice and laid back."

Previously, Christine had a heart-to-heart with the ITV Loose Women crew. She confided in them: "After having a relationship in the public eye for so long I'm not sure I want the relationship to be public. I've only ever known what it was like to have a relationship that's in the public. This is nice."

"I've been really open and honest from the beginning about where I'm at and they're ok with that. I feel like I'm in good company. I don't get a lot of time to myself but when I do it's lovely and we laugh loads."

Speaking more about the series set to kick off on Sunday night (29 September), Paddy shared: "We're at a point in our lives where we want to make the most of our years ahead, so we try out as many experiences as we can to learn how some of the oldest and well-preserved people on the planet are doing it! ".

The programme will air on BBC, marking the first time Paddy and Chris will be seen together on screen since the Top Gear crash in 2022 that left their third co-star, Freddie Flintoff, severely injured.

The eager pair embark on a quest for the secrets to preserving their youth and throughout the series, they explore Sweden, Greece and Switzerland. Despite the unusual anti-ageing methods, Paddy and Chris embrace them wholeheartedly.

"We've really tried to tap into both the traditional and modern methods of 'living well' that are adopted by each of the countries we visited," Paddy reveals. "From Swedish saunas, to milking goats, rock climbing and even visiting a 'Gentleman's clinic'... you name it, we try it! ".

Tune in to Paddy And Chris: Road Tripping on Sunday 29 September at 8pm on BBC One
