Maya Jama has hit back at claims she split with Stormzy because she didn't want to settle down, as her ex moves on with American singer Victoria Monet.
The 30-year-old host was posting from her swanky New York room, when she addressed rumours that have circulated about her and ex Stormzy. The couple split in August after rekindling their romance, but decided to call it a day after one year back together.
It's been reported since that Stormzy has started a romance with Victoria Monet, who shares a three-year-old daughter with her ex, after the pair were spotted kissing in an airport.
But Maya slammed the rumours, after posting a video of herself with an Instagram filter on that said "Gay & Tired", to which a follower replied: "I fear there will be a stupid Sun article tomorrow like “ COES OUT AS GAY” all because of this Instagram filter, they won’t rest."
The screenshot showed Maya replying: "Honestly I’m so over them," writing over it: "Also can use this opportunity to say the narravtibe that the mean tabloids created that I don’t want to settle down and have kids is a lieeee. They just hate women cause that’s never left my mouth x"
Breaking her social media silence after Stormzy, 31, was spotted kissing Monet at Heathrow Airport, Maya documented her trip to the salon, just as it started pouring with rain. Taking to Stories on Saturday, the TV star shared a photo of herself at a salon, running her fingers through her long hair. Sharing a clip of herself, Maya captioned the video to write: "And the rain falls as soon as the blow dry is done." She went on to share a snap of herself wearing a face mask while enjoying further treatments at the Shane Cooper Clinic in South Kensington.
Maya and Stormzy stunned their fans in July when they revealed they had broken up. They wrote in a statement: "We've been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we'd be the couple announcing a breakup.
"But for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that's needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to."
They explained that they had been fighting against hectic work schedules to try to make things work, and the post reflected on the fact they first got together when he was 21 and she was 20. They added: "We still think the absolute of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we've had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends."
