Lily Allen says she had kids for 'all the wrong reasons' in heartbreaking chat

Lily Allen has revealed that she decided to have children in a desperate attempt for unconditional love and needing a reason to press pause on her career, without being bombarded by a host of questions.

On the back of her best pal Miquita Oliver discussing the audible ticking of her biological clock, Lily , 39, made the shock admission. Sat in an armchair opposite Miquita, Lily revealed: "I think I had children for all the wrong reasons really because I was yearning for unconditional love, which I haven't felt in my life since I was a child. And also my career was at such a high speed, you know high pressure and I'm a people pleaser and I felt like very overwhelmed by what was happening. "

The former pop singer shot to fame in 2005 when she signed to Regal Recordings after posting her vocals on an old social media platform called Myspace. Since then, the music artist went on to win Brit Awards and was also nominated for a Grammy. But now, the star claims that she felt she was on a treadmill at the height of her fame - and felt that getting pregnant was "one way to stop people hassling me."

She added: "I just didn't get much respite and I felt like the one way to stop people hassling me, it's not about me its about this other person that's inside me." Miquita then simply asked her if it worked and Lily replied that it had. She continued: "Yeah they did leave me alone. I don't think I really understood what I got myself into. "

Lily is now married to David Harbour, but it seems the pair's sex life hit an obstacle, leaving her to think she was perimenopausal. During a chat on her podcast, she said: "I go through horny phases and unhorny phases. And maybe this is related a little bit to hormones. I am in a ‘dry patch’ at the moment and I’m not really w****** right now, it all seems a bit laborious and a bit of a task but I think I might be a bit perimenopausal so I’m going to see a specialist and see if I can get started on the old HRT."

She added: "I’m going to deal with my s*** and get some testosterone cream to rub on my inner thigh so I can start c****** furiously all over the place." According to the NHS, a reduced sex drive is one of the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. Women can often be offered testosterone to help increase sex drive if they are perimenopausal.

Lily and David came under fire by fans and even received death threats after she revealed they had re-homed their puppy for eating their passports. She was reportedly sent a mechanical dog toy accompanied by a harsh letter from the animal charity PETA

She was asked by a listener how she would feel about her partner masturbating, the former singer revealed: "I want him to feel happy and fulfilled and I’m just not there right now. Maybe it’s been all the f***** death threats for sending my puppy back to the shelter that just hasn’t put me in the mood for rampant sex. Maybe it’s the repeated messaging of ‘you are the most awful person on planet earth’ that has made me feel not quite as confident and sexy as possible."
