While Arne Slot is in the first-team so far this season, a handful have started to be introduced to training sessions with the roster at the - with a new face being brought back this week.

The likes of , , Harvey Davies, James Norris, and Isaac Mabaya have all been involved in first-team training periodically through Slot's reign so far, with striker Oakley Cannonier joining this week.

Seen as one of 's most exciting young attackers, Cannonier has been a regular goalscorer for their under-18 and under-21 teams over the past few years - but had been out for the entire 2024 after struggling with injuries.

While being seen as a future star within Liverpool's ranks for the past four years, Cannonier is already beloved by Liverpool fans due to his unlikely involvement in the club's famous 4-0 victory over Barcelona in 2019 that saw them advance and ultimately win the Champions League.

Cannonier gained immediate attention for being the ball boy who quickly threw the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold when it went out of play before his famous ‘corner taken quickly’ to Divock Origi - catching Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, and company out to score the fourth goal of the game and complete an incredible comeback.

Cannonier, and the rest of Liverpool's ball boys, had been instructed to do this when the ball had gone out of play, with the Reds' wanting to play at an intensity that the Catalan side could not match - and had immediately done so when Origi opened the scoring that day.

The striker, now 20, had begun to emerge as a standout in Liverpool's youth ranks some years later - scoring 28 goals and registering five assists in just 26 games for their under-18 team through the 2021/22 season.

The following season, the Leeds-born striker scored 10 goals in 11 games in the under-21 team as he begun training with the first team under Klopp. However, he began to struggle with injuries which have limited his playing time ever since.

Liverpool.com says: "Having returned to full fitness just two weeks ago, Oakley Cannonier's reintroduction to the first-team shows just how highly he is regarded within the club.

"Darwin Nunez is the only true out-and-out number 9 within the first-team, with Cannonier and fellow youngster Jayden Danns potentially being options for Slot to turn toward if needed. Like Cannonier, Danns has also struggled with injuries this season, with both men now hoping to catch the new head coaches eye."
