Harry Kane immediate Thomas Tuchel England manager verdict speaks volumes after FA talks

Harry Kane has signalled support for Thomas Tuchel becoming the next England manager amid advanced talks between the FA and the German coach. Former Chelsea boss Tuchel is understood to be in a promising position to take the role after intensive discussions, with negotiations set to intensify.

Tuchel's impressive track record, , caught the eye despite internal challenges. He has been out of management since parting with Bayern Munich last season.

Now, England captain Kane, who worked with Tuchel at Bayern, praised Tuchel as a 'fantastic coach' while speaking to Sky Germany. Remaining measured on the subject until something concrete emerges, Kane was coy.

"To be honest, I haven't heard anything specific about it yet," he said. "That's why I can't really comment on it until it's officially announced. We'll have to wait and see what happens."

On Tuchel's qualities, the 31-year-old was more open. "I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year. He's a fantastic coach and a fantastic person.

Although Kane and Tuchel failed to win Bundesliga together last season, it was an impressive goalscoring relationship. Kane scored 44 times in 45 games under Tuchel's management, assisting a further 12, reports .

Tuchel has already spent just over 18 months managing in England. He repaired a mid-season slump at Chelsea in 2021, leading the club to a second Champions League trophy and a top four finish.

In his time at SW6 he also won the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. Tuchel did lose all three domestic cup finals he reached though, bowing out on penalties in two of those to Liverpool in his only full season in charge.
