Frank Lampard points out Jurgen Klopp 'machine' Arne Slot inherited at Liverpool

Frank Lampard has believes Arne Slot's smooth Premier League adaptation has been due to the "machine of a team" he inherited from ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The departure of Klopp at the end of last term left many wonder how Liverpool would adjust, with Slot named his successor and taking up the reigns earlier this summer. Slot's tenure has started triumphantly with three consecutive wins, including a dominant display against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has swiftly imposed his mark on the squad, subtly altering their well-established play style to add an element of control. Analysing the situation on Match of the Day, former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard noted Slot inherited some impressive talent from Klopp and hailed the new Liverpool boss for his early impact, reports the Mirror.

"The small tweaks are very smart from the manager," said Lampard. "He's come into a machine of a team with a lot of talent and a system, but the small changes that leads you into seeing what we're seeing."

"A lot of people have been talking about the different style - more passing and more build up - we've seen that in the first two games. Now against what you might say is a more difficult team at Old Trafford, and their decision was made to have the structure, but when they can play through them they did."

He added: "You need good player and players with intelligence and attributes. It obviously helps having good players with good understanding and they've been well coached, let's not forget what the previous manager has done over a long period of time."

And it wasn't just Lampard who heaped praise upon Slot for his start at Anfield, which has seen Liverpool win their opening three Premier League games. Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville, who predicted Manchester United would finish about Liverpool, said: "It's a monumental day for Arne Slot.

"When you think about the job, forget convincing fans you can come here and replace Jurgen Klopp, but convincing the group of players who have had seven or eight years under a great manager.

"They've got to listen to someone different, and we know the challenge of that from clubs like Man Utd and Arsenal when Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger left, it's been a big problem. This will be a big moment for him in establishing his foundations, and his message, making the players believe in him."

Liverpool.com says: "It can't be understated just how impressive a start to live in the Premier League Arne Slot has made as Liverpool boss. In the past, teams like Manchester United and Arsenal failed miserably to replace Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger following their long tenures in charge of the two. Slot has come in and stamped his mark on Liverpool.

"And it was almost poetic that on Sunday, there was another Dutch coach stood just meters away from Slot in Erik ten Hag, who is entering his third season in charge of United and has seemingly been unable to produce a distinct, consistent style of play at Old Trafford."
