David Tennant fans fume as J.K Rowling takes odd unprovoked swipe at Doctor Who star

Since star blocked JK Rowling's opportunity to make a guest appearance on the sci-fi show, the author seemingly has no time for the Scottish actor.

More than ten years on from the Doctor Who snub, there is still no love lost between them, if J.K's comment is anything to go by. On the back of the announcement that is now the leader of the Conservative party, JK posted a bitter message to the actor.

David, who played the character of Barty Crouch Jr. in movie adaptation of, has had a separate battle with Kemi over the Tory leader's views on the LGBTQ+ community and once said that he wished she would simply "shut up." And this may explain why took to X, aka Twitter, as Kemi was revealed as the new Tory leader and wrote: "My thoughts and prayers are with David Tennant at this very difficult time." 

But it looks as though her sarcastic comment left many unimpressed as fans flocked to the comment section to slam the author over her barbed post. One person wrote: "David Tennant will always be loved whilst you will be hated." Another person said: "David Tennant is enjoying his life as a successful actor with a loving family, a father who supports his children Meanwhile, Joanne is foaming at the mouth that trans people exist." 

A third user commented:"Funnier when you remember David Tennant was the barrier to Rowling having a starring role in a episode way back when." Meanwhile a fourth person posted: "Fun fact. David Tennant said no to JK being associated with Doctor Who, hence her eternal saltiness about him. Making David even more awesome. Here's an unrelated photograph of David in a t-shirt that says 'leave trans kids alone, you absolute freaks'. I love him."

When David, 53, refused to have JK involved in Doctor Who, he reportedly claimed that he feared it would turn the series in to a "spoof." The writer was apparently looking for a high-profile name tom surpass Kylie Minogue's appearance on the show for a special.

The idea to have JK on board was revealed in a number of published emails from Russell T Davies. At the time, he explained the idea was dismissed "to keep him happy." But while David was kept happy, it then kick started a feud between the actor and the author. Russell had the idea that JK's imagination came to life and the Doctor was forced to fight against a snow covered of wizards and witches.

At the time Russell said: "David doesn't like the JK idea. He thinks it sounds like a spoof, so we've paused slightly, wondering whether to win him round or just abandon something that he's not going to be happy with. We've got to keep him happy. He keeps us happy." Russell had previously asked the author to write an episode of the BBC show but she "politely declined".
