Many people may think that their clothes are ruined if they get oil stains on them.

However, one social media influencer has shared her tip to get out pesky oil stains with a simple household product.

Lese Mmolotsi, known as @homewithlese, shares her home and cleaning tips with her 442,000 followers on the site. And they were loving her latest oil stains hack, with the post racking up more than 212,000 likes.

Lese started her reel by putting some oil on her jogging bottoms as a demonstration. Overlay text read: "Got oil stains on your clothes? Here's how to remove it."

She said that step 1 was to "blot excess oil with a paper towel or kitchen towel", but told fans to make sure they don't rub it.

Step 2 was applying baking powder, a household product which will only cost you around £1.50, to "absorb the oil". Lese said you should then wait 15-30 minutes before adding a few drops of grease-fighting dish soap as step 3.

Step 4 is gently scrubbing the area with a toothbrush before rinsing it with hot water as step 5. The final step is to put it in the washing machine to give it a good clean.

Lese concluded her video triumphantly declaring: "Say goodbye to oil stain and hello to fresh clean clothes," as she showed off her stain-free jogging bottoms.

Following up in the caption, she said: "How to remove oil stains from clothes (even old ones!)

"Got a pesky oil stain on your favourite clothes? Dont worry! Here is an easy, step by step hack to banish those stubborn stains using ingredients you already have at home.

"What's needed – baking soda ,dish soap and hot water! Pro tip let the baking soda absorb the oil before scrubbing. If the oil stain is old then repeat this method again and again."

Some people were loving the hack, as one person exclaimed: "Omg Lese I so needed to know this. I have a couple of oil stains on a jumper." While another added: "So handy to know I’ll be saving this!"

A third chimed in: "You mean to tell me it’s been that’s easy this whole time?"

Others had their own tips too, as one person shared: "The best method I’ve found is putting dawn dish soap on the oil stain and leaving it on for over 24hrs, the oil will breakdown and then throw it in the wash! Works wonders."

Another added: "I use castor oil on oil stains and let it sit for an hour then wash it. Def works." While a third chimed in: "Even easier solution: Dishwash liquid. Rub it on and let sit for a few mins before putting it the washer."
