Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness are due to return to TV screens in new travel series, Paddy and Chris: Road Tripping. The new BBC show will kick off on Sunday, 29 September and see the two Top Gear stars head on a road trip across Europe.

The official synopsis for the series reads: "Growing old (dis)gracefully? Facing down 50, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris are on a quest to crack the code of ageing well, seeking secrets from the Europeans who do it best."

Paddy, 50, and Chris, 49, will take on a number of new adventures and activities, with the Take Me Out star even admitting they do some "soul searching" while on their travels. Paddy shared: "There are some moments where we both really do some soul searching and think about how we can make the most of the years ahead of us."

However, spending so much time together didn't come without its problems. Chris has admitted that one specific incident during a road trip left him struggling to forigive his co-star.

Revealing why he doesn't buy snacks for trips, Chris said: "There was no point in me buying anything I liked for the road trip, as Paddy McGuiness almost always gets to it before I have a chance! He once threw my mint humbugs out the window, which I’ve still not forgiven him for. I made him stop the car so I could go and retrieve them."

It's not just snacks Paddy tends to control, as Chris revealed his co-star also takes over control of the radio. He added: "Unfortunately for me I don’t get a look in with the radio when Paddy is around, so I was stuck with his awful playlist of 80s power ballads, complete with Paddy himself singing along."

The road trip "changed" Chris and Paddy's friendship, despite knowing each other for many years and regularly working together. Chris revealed: "Paddy and I have been good friends for many years and we have spent a lot of time together, so I thought I knew him pretty well. But this soul searching mission has definitely changed us; we’ve learnt a lot about each other and ourselves. It’s been great to experience that with Paddy."

Elsewhere, Paddy was full of praise for Chris but also noted that he didn't like his co-stars choice of car music. The Top Gear star joked: "I could mention many things about the enigma that is Chris Harris, but alongside all the laughs and banter, we genuinely learn a lot about ourselves and each other on this trip, which has been eye-opening. I have also learnt, however, that Chris has terrible taste in music and should never be given control of the car radio again!"

Paddy and Chris: Road Tripping will begin airing on Sunday, 29 September on BBC One at 8pm.
