Chanelle Hayes had to change her wedding dress just days before her big day.
The Big Brother star didn't choose her gown until just one day before after being forced to make alterations. The 36-year-old revealed she had seen another celebrity wearing the exact same dress. Taking to Instagram, Chanelle showed fans how she added off-the-shoulder sleeves to her gown to make it stand out.
Her initial dress featured spaghetti straps and no belt but she wasn't happy that another celeb had been spotted wearing the same dress and wanted to avoid a 'who wore it best' comparison. Taking to Instagram, the star shared a before and after snap of her initial dress along with the alterations she had made.
In view of her 128,000 followers on the photo-sharing platform, Chanelle penned: "So I never told anybody this outside of my family and bridesmaids. My wedding dress had to be emergency changed weeks before my wedding because another lady in the public eye wore the identical dress to me for her special day. I did not want the 'who wore it best?' type polls and nonsense because each of us had our perfect days and that’s not fair."
She went on to write: "The dress was altered from Version A: spaghetti straps with no belt to Version B: off the shoulder tulle sleeves with a belt at the bottom of the corset. Personally I think the altered Version B was more suited to me and I'm so glad fate intervened and made me have these alterations made. Now I open the floor to you guys… which version do you prefer for me??"
However, the post which has racked up over 5,000 likes was soon flooded by comments from fans curious as to who the other mystery celebrity was. "Anyone else just want to know who the other lady was?!? I voted 'B' – it's stunning," commented one. A second went on to write: "Wonder who wore the original dress," as Chanelle replied: "She looked stunning in it."
"Much prefer the alterations you made, absolutely stunning," gushed Nicola McLean. Another fan typed: "I'll be honest in my opinion you took a pretty plain dress and made it unique so it's defo fated that happened I prefer B I love them sleeves as well on wedding dresses think they look really classy."
"Oh my, those alterations were meant to be, because the dress & you looked absolutely stunning," said another. On June 28, Chanelle married her husband, accountant Dan Bingham. She told OK!: "He said he would have married me in a car park wearing a bin bag. He loves me for me. He doesn't mind if I have a hot water bottle in bed and he doesn't care if I don’t want to go out partying any more. We're happy to sit together and have a cup of tea.”
The couple met in 2020 and got engaged in May 2022. Dan wanted to marry as soon as possible, but the couple agreed to wait while Chanelle – who is mum to Blakely, 14, and Frankie, six, and now step-mum to Amelia, 16 – focused on her nursing degree.
