Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins' Marnie Simpson bursts into tears reliving trauma

TV star Marnie Simpson broke down on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as she revealed the traumatic events that led her to join the show. In a heart-wrenching conversation, Marnie confessed that her dad's sudden death six years ago triggered severe anxiety and a deep-seated fear of mortality.

The former Geordie Shore star tearfully explained: "I've had really bad anxiety for about six years - I don't really want to talk about it. But that's because my dad died out of the blue. I feel really fragile, I don't want to talk about it."

As she struggled to hold back tears, Marnie shared her harrowing experience of nearly dying in childbirth, which left her unable to care for her baby for two and a half years. She admitted: "When that happened, it set off a lot of health anxiety, a lot of death anxiety. And then I nearly died in childbirth and was poorly for two and a half years after, I couldn't even look after my own baby."

Marnie's emotional revelation shed light on her struggles with anxiety and self-doubt, which have held her back from pushing herself in challenging situations. She poignantly expressed: "So I feel like all of that has just made me feel unconfident and anxious, I'm always thinking the worst and never want to push myself in certain situations. I'm always so fearful."

In 2020, Marnie welcomed her first son, Rox, but endured a traumatic labour, losing two pints of blood. Speaking to OK! after Rox's birth, Marnie revealed: "I've honestly not been the same person since it. I really haven't. I've suffered with major anxiety."

She added: "I am gradually getting better but, I'm just not the same it's strange. I think it was genuinely traumatic that's the only way I can describe it. I've been traumatised because of it."

Marnie's labour was further complicated by a bacterial infection, leading to a chronic UTI that left her bedridden for weeks.

However, on Monday's episode of SAS, Marnie impressed in the final challenge, a cold water test where recruits had to jump backwards off a platform into the sea. Defying expectations, Marnie successfully completed the task, landing headfirst in the water.
