Bukayo Saka injury latest before Liverpool as Mikel Arteta delivers huge triple Arsenal update

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has ahead of facing in a huge clash in the this weekend.

Saka limped off while representing England in the Three Lions' defeat to Greece during the October international break. He has missed the Gunners' matches against Bournemouth and Shakhtar Donetsk this week and remains somewhat of a doubt for this weekend.

But asked for an update on Saka, Riccardo Calafiori, who went off injured midweek in the Champions League, and Jurrien Timber, who is still working his way back from a previous medical issue, Arteta didn't want to guarantee anything. "We are going to do our very best to somehow have them available [to face Liverpool]," he said. "But obviously it is very, very uncertain."

  • On Saka specifically, Arteta said: "He’s done a bit of training on the grass. How far we can get him before Sunday is another question. We will see."

    On Riccardo Calafiori, he added: "He needs some more tests. Yesterday he had some, today he’s going to have some more. Last time we thought it was really bad and then he ended up playing two days later."

    Timber, the 23-year-old defender signed from Ajax in 2023, has been missing since the Gunner's 4-2 win over Leicester City. On him, Arteta explained: "It was the first session that he could have some involvement. He’s been out a while. We thought he would be further ahead."
