Wynne Evans faced a major blow to his popularity on amid his awkward moments with professional partner at the weekend.
The couple were among the favourites to go all the way and lift the coveted Glitterball trophy on the contest. However, despite making it through , their popularity has nose dived after fans grew concerned over the Welsh opera singer's behaviour.
Despite both saying it was an "inside joke", the pair are now among the favourites to exit the show next time around. He now sits at just 5/1 to get the boot.
That's according to Ladbrokes, who puts the couple third favourite to be the fourth pairing to leave the show. So far, Tom Dean and Nadiya Bychkova, Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones, and and Luba Mushtuk have been eliminated.
With Wynne and Katya only likely to be saved by either Paul Merson or Punam Krishan, according to the odds, their chances of winning have drastically dipped. They have moved from 20/1 shots to 33/1 long shots. Comedian remains odds-on favourite to be the final victor.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "Wynne Evans was embroiled in controversy over the weekend which has taken a big toll on his popularity. He is now in the danger zone to be the fourth celebrity eliminated from the show."
It comes as fans fumed over Katya's apparent apology video following the incidents. On Saturday, fans were stunned as the , 52, seemed to try to put his hand . The dancer was seen brushing off her partner and looking uncomfortable before he attempted it again.
In Katya's response on social media, she was for making light of what she called a "very silly inside joke between Wynne and I". She added: "Even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or it offended me in any way is complete nonsense. It's quite absurd actually."
But fans weren't buying the response and one went as far as commenting to say she was "sending a message out to women saying, this creepy behaviour from a man is ok and acceptable and shouldn’t feel uncomfortable. It’s very clear what’s going on here".
Several others said if it was indeed a joke, it was very much in poor taste. Another user added: "IF it was a joke, it’s unbelievably crass considering what’s been going on at SCD. It trivialises a really important subject. Read the room, as we used to say." A third was of the same impression and added: "It was so ill advised in the current circumstances."
