BBC Breakfast guest issues apology after host Nina Warhurst admits she was left in tears

BBC Breakfast's Nina Warhurst confessed to shedding a few tears over Snow Patrol's latest powerful album during Wednesday's episode.

During the latest show, Nina, 43, and her co-host Jon Kay had a chat with the iconic band members Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and Nathan Connolly.

Speaking about their new album, The Forest Is The Path, Nina said: "I'll tell you what, I put your new album on in the car this morning on the way in and I was crying by the time I arrived." The band then replied: "I'm sorry!"

However, Nina was quick to clarify: "No, a happy cry! In a good way, really powerful stuff!" At the end of the interview over the album, she added: "It's perfect for a little car cry!"

The band has seen several changes since its inception in the 90s, but the most significant shift occurred last year when long-standing members, drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson, announced their exit.

The remaining trio of Northern Irish musicians Gary, Nathan and Johnny were left devastated but wished them well and have continued to create their emotionally charged eighth studio album.

"On a band level, just the three of us feel stronger and more connected than we've ever done" Gary recently stated as the band geared up to release their first record in six years. He further added: "And I'm so excited to bring this album out that we've made, that we're all really excited about, we're all really proud of, and get to gigging around the world."

This news comes as Snow Patrol are currently topping the UK charts and if they maintain their position, this Friday could see the band clinching their first UK No. 1 album in 18 years, reports the Express.

The Forest Is The Path is Snow Patrol's first album in six years, following their 2018 release, Wildness.

Snow Patrol first claimed the top spot on the UK charts back in 2006 with Eyes Open and have since then racked up an impressive seven top 10 albums.

Elsewhere on BBC Breakfast, the show spoke to Ed Sheeran fan Nikki Atkins. Ed went viral once again on Tuesday as he shared a video of a heartwarming fan encounter which has been branded 'the best video on the internet'.

In the sweet clip posted to his Instagram, the singer, 33, is seen cruising along a canal in London where he serenades a fan who was obliviously jogging along the canal at the same time.

Ed shared a video which captured the heartwarming moment to his Instagram on Tuesday, captioning it: "Was filming a video on the canal today, played a request. If anyone knows the runner lemme know so we can have their POV video for the lols".

On Wednesday's BBC Breakfast, the show spoke to the runner in question, teacher Nikki, who decided to go on a run for the first time in months when she bumped into the superstar.
