One of the stars of Agatha All Along on Disney+ has teased fans over their character, leading fans to speculate over the true nature of their role.

Aubrey Plaza has admitted that there is something unusual about her part in the Marvel series, and believes fans will "go crazy" when they find out the truth. Speaking to Scarlet Witch Updates at the show's premiere event, Plaza confessed to feeling nervous about taking on the part.

She shared that Kathryn Hahn, who reprises the role of Agatha Harkness from Wandavision, warned her about Marvel shows having an incredible fan following.

Plaza said: "I'm just so happy they let me play this character. I can't spoil it, but what happens, the reveal is pretty amazing. And I think for the fans especially, they're going to go crazy."

While this may be her first official entry in the MCU, the Parks and Recreation star is no stranger to playing characters based on Marvel comic books.

She played a gender swapped version of the Shadow King in the FX series Legion. That character is known for messing with the heads of heroes like the X-Men and Plaza could be up to similar tricks in Agatha All Along.

Plaza's character is credited in the show as Rio Vidal, but this is not a character that originally appears in the comics, leading fans to share theories over who it really is.

Many fans responded on X, formerly Twitter claiming they believe she will be revealed as Margana Le Fay, a character featured in The Runaways and based on Arthurian legends.

Others have suggested the possibility she is really Mephisto, although that character is currently appearing in ongoing Marvel and Disney+ series Hit-Monkey. Popular theories also include Lady Death and Enchantress.

Agatha All Along features an all-star cast with Hahn and Plaza joined by Heartstopper's Joe Locke and That 90's Show's Debra Jo Rupp.

The show follows Agatha as she finds herself powerless but freed from a spell by an mysterious teenager (Locke). He requests she takes him on the legendary Witches' Road, and help him with a series of dangerous trials that would ultimately reward them with what they're missing.

New episodes of Agatha All Along are available every Thursday with a two-episode premiere available to stream on Disney+ from September 19.
