Arne Slot has warned Liverpool’s rivals they can get even better despite their stunning start to the season.

The Reds are as they sit top of the table after eight games. They head into their having earned two wins from two in the already.

It’s the first time in the club’s history they’ve won the first 11 of 12 games in a season with a Carabao Cup victory against also under their belts. But the Kop boss believes there’s more to come from his Reds side after just a few months in charge.

He said: “You cannot ask for much more with results but there is always room for improvement. I don’t think we outplayed [in Sunday’s 2-1 win], we certainly did not – I think they were more dominant than us with the ball.

“In an ideal I would have seen us dominate the complete game. We are not there yet.

“The good thing is, if we face a team like Chelsea and [Manchester] United, you see a team fighting for every centimetre or every moment in the game.

“I am hoping in the future, hopefully the near future, we play a game like AC Milan or United and become more dominant than we were against Chelsea.”

will be on Wednesday as the Portuguese forward did not travel. Harvey Elliott, Conor Bradley, Federcico Chiesa and Alisson Becker also have not made the trip.

Slot is not sure how long Jota will be absent after he suffered ‘bruising’ when Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo fell on him in Sunday’s win over the Blues. Slot said: “"It is difficult to judge at this moment of time to see how long it is going to take.

“Ribs? He felt somewhere over here, it is bruised I think, so we'll have to see how long it is going to take.

“Conor Bradley didn't make the trip, Harvey Elliott didn't make it, Federico Chiesa didn't and Alisson didn't make the trip either, so that means we have a few issues at the moment.”

Former Liverpool boss , who is set to take over as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull in January, will not attend the game despite his links to both clubs.
