Broncos cruise past Saints, 33-10, in Sean Payton’s homecoming

The Broncos, led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix , set the tone for the game early on, establishing their dominance from the opening play. Nix’s impressive dual-threat ability was evident as he threw for 164 yards, completing 16 of his 26 attempts, and added another 75 rushing yards to his stats. His mobility and quick decision-making kept the Saints’ defense under constant pressure, allowing Denver to gain an early lead that was never relinquished.

A balanced attack played a crucial role in the Broncos' success. Running back Javonte Williams contributed significantly, amassing 88 rushing yards on 14 carries and scoring two crucial touchdowns. His ability to break through the Saints' defense provided the Broncos with the consistency needed to maintain control throughout the game. Denver’s offensive rhythm, coupled with their stout defense, left the Saints struggling to keep up.

New Orleans, already dealing with a depleted roster, found it difficult to put up a fight. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler, filling in for an injured Derek Carr, managed 172 passing yards but faced challenges with ball security, losing two vital fumbles. The Saints, although able to score a late touchdown, were unable to mount any significant comeback. The absence of key players such as wide receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, along with offensive linemen Erik McCoy and Cesar Ruiz, severely hampered the team’s performance. Taysom Hill also missed his third straight game, adding to their woes.

The Saints’ ground game was essentially non-existent, with Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams combining for a mere 27 rushing yards. Their inability to gain any traction against Denver’s defense made the offensive struggles even more apparent. For the Broncos, this victory marked a turning point, symbolizing the type of team that Sean Payton has envisioned building since his arrival in Denver nearly two years ago.
